
TrudyLee Gayle holds a BFA Honours degree in
Dance from York University in Toronto, completed an
Independent Study Program at The Ailey School in
New York, NY and is a certified barre fitness instructor.
She has had the privilege of studying with artists who have
been members of some of North America’s most influential
dance companies such as PHILADANCO!, Martha Graham
Dance Company, Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater,
American Ballroom Dance Theater, Toronto Dance Theatre
and The National Ballet of Canada.
TrudyLee works nationally in both recorded and live media.
Some of her live performance works include stage
productions of MAMMA MIA!, Shrek The Musical, The
Wedding Singer, Hairspray, and The Adventures of a Black
Girl in Search of God, for which she is a Montreal English
Theatre Awards winner. Local productions include the ska
dance-theatre hit, Gimme One Riddim, Obeah Opera,
(2019 Luminato Festival) and Divine Interventions for
CORPUS Dance Projects, where she proudly pilots a quint
tandem bicycle whilst singing.
As a vocalist she has performed with Toronto-based reggae
band, Reggaddiction, and also recorded a reggae-dub version
of ‘Words’ on their Neil Young cover album. She also enjoys
lending her talents to tribute shows and sometimes performs
as 'Scary Spice' with Wannabe: A Spice Girls Tribute, and
also with the cast of Legends of Motown as Gladys Knight,
Mary Wells and the lead singer of the Marvelettes.
She has choreographed for studios and schools within the
Greater Toronto Area, as well as city-wide events and
initiatives for the City of Toronto and beyond. Most recently she choreographed for an experimental short film for which
she also co-produced and co-artistic directed, which she hopes to release in summer 2022.
